The Orange Room (two and three year olds) runs daily from 7:30 – 2:30; the classroom closes at 2:30 each day. This small group setting, five children, allows children who are new to group care an opportunity to learn socialization skills in a low-key, intimate, environment, with lots of teacher support. The curriculum is play based and process oriented with a strong emphasis on exploring the natural world. Activities typically center around birds and other wildlife, the weather and the changing of the seasons. Special events include activities such as a field trip to an apple orchard or a nature walk on the Montshire trails.
The Orange Room day provides a balance of activities. There is a lot of opportunity for free exploration as well as teacher structured activities that provide art and language/literacy rich experiences. Children also play outdoors daily throughout the year. |
