The Nursery strives to create an environment that is nurturing, stimulating and designed to encourage children’s active participation. The Nursery program is designed to meet the individual needs of each child. A daily schedule is posted at the nursery. Parents are always welcome to stop by and visit their child.
In the Nursery, we take trips to the Montshire Museum. We generally drive down in the winter but by spring and summer the children are capable of walking. Some seasonal themes include the Monarch Butterfly in the fall, snow play in the winter (indoors as well as outdoors), flowers in the spring, and planting a vegetable garden in the summer. The children can enjoy other art activities, exploring with paints, crayons markers and chalk.
In the fall, the Nursery hosts a potluck dinner. All the Nursery families are encouraged to attend. This offers parents the chance to meet their child’s friends and teachers, and other Nursery parents in an informal setting. In July, we have a Summer Luncheon as well as a farewell to those who are leaving or moving up to the Red Room.
Parents or staff may request a conference at any time. We do offer a scheduled conference in the winter and again in the summer. A conference offers a time for staff and parents to share information about their child’s development. We are always willing to talk with you about any concern or issue you have regarding your child.
